Believing in people
What stands out most to me about Phorest is how much the company believes in its people. From the beginning, Phoresters are encouraged to push themselves, take on new challenges and go after ambitious goals, with the trust and support to make it happen.
I joined Phorest at just 22 years old. Ten years later, I have built a career, progressing from an Inside Sales role to Director level, including an international move to the United States along the way.
Over the past decade, my experience has been shaped by opportunity, autonomy and a culture that actively supports growth.

Niamh's advice for anyone joining Phorest: Take time to understand the customer. Stay curious. Build relationships.
Knowing our customers and their challenges helps guide better decisions and brings purpose to the work we do. Stay curious. Opportunities for improvement are welcomed at every level, and I encourage people to speak up and share ideas. Build relationships. Getting to know people across teams helps new hires settle in, understand how the company works and really experience the culture.

An unexpected way in
My path to Phorest wasn’t exactly straightforward. While working in face-to-face sales elsewhere, I applied for a role that ultimately didn’t work out. But after meeting the team and getting a feel for the culture, I knew I wanted to be part of it.
Rather than seeing it as a setback, I saw it as motivation. I reached back out to explore other opportunities, which led to my first role supporting the Salon Summit. Just four months later, I moved into the UKI Customer Success team, beginning a decade-long journey of growth at Phorest.
It was there that I experienced one of the things that has stayed with me throughout my career at Phorest: a strong sense of ownership and autonomy. I describe the environment as one where people are trusted to take responsibility for their work, almost as if everyone is “running their own business”.
Moving to the US
At just 25, I took on one of the biggest challenges of my career, relocating to the US to lead an operations team. It was a major professional and personal leap, but I remember feeling really supported by Phorest’s leadership team throughout the move.
That trust and belief in me became a defining part of my career progression. It gave me the confidence to take on challenges I may not have considered otherwise.
Back to Ireland
Following the pandemic, I returned to Ireland and took on several roles across the business before joining the In-Region team. In September 2024, I stepped into my current position as the Director of Customer Success for the UKI region.
What I value most about the role is how connected it is to real customer impact. Working directly with salon owners and teams means I can see the difference Phorest makes to their businesses, and that immediate visibility of impact is a big motivator for me. It really is all about the people and the industry.
What keeps me here
When I think about what has kept me at Phorest for ten years, I always come back to one thing: the people.
I talk about how colleagues support each other, approach challenges with positive intent and genuinely want one another to succeed. There’s a strong sense of trust, openness and collaboration across the company.
Even during high-pressure moments, teams remain supportive and truly enjoy the work together.
