About Phorest
Phorest Salon Software powers over 12,000 hair and beauty salons in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Australia, Finland, the USA and Canada. The platform supports hundreds of thousands of professionals every day and millions of consumers.
Our system touches every point of the salon experience - from the in-salon software appointment calendar and CRM with a fully integrated marketing suite, to staff apps to payments. Over €4 billion was processed in salons last year using Phorest, and each month 100’s of thousands of online bookings are created.
We also provide salons with amazing experiences for their clients through custom native apps for booking appointments and eCommerce solutions to help sell online 24/7. Why? Because we’re passionate about helping our salons find their dream clients and keep them coming back more often, spending more, and spreading the word.
Business System Team
While our customer-facing teams focus on our salon, the Business Systems team focuses on the engine that powers Phorest itself. Our "customers" are our colleagues, the Onboarding specialists, Sales teams, Support staff, and Finance experts who keep Phorest running globally.
We own and maintain the complex ecosystem of internal tools that our colleagues use every day. The domain is intricate, involving multiple regions, legacy systems, and interconnected workflows. Crucially, part of our vision is to build out some of these internal business processes, allowing our salon clients to self-serve aspects of their own onboarding, account setup, and management directly within the Phorest application.
We are seeking a Product Designer who loves untangling complexity. This is a unique opportunity to be the first dedicated designer on this team, moving us from a developer-led UI to a true user-centered design process. You will have the chance to make a massive impact on the daily lives of your colleagues by streamlining processes, reducing friction, and designing tools that that work seamlessly together, while also laying the groundwork for exciting new customer-facing features.
The Opportunity
- Mid-Level Product Designer position available on the Business Systems team.
- You will play a critical role in shaping this product as you will be the first dedicated designer on this team, you will define what user experience means for our internal tools.
- You will work in a tightly-knit group alongside a Product Manager, Engineering Manager, and Technical Business Analyst to define roadmaps, requirements and solutions.
- You will work closely with your engineering team as you build, iterate on, and ship ideas.
- You will be solving a key area for improvement at Phorest in 2026 by collaborating with a Senior team of smart, caring individuals that love to see the direct impact of the work, making coworkers’ lives easier and helping them delight our customers.
- Your problem solving will be global. You will be creating design workflows that need to work for teams in North America, Europe, and Australia, navigating regional nuances to create cohesive solutions.
- You will become a part of a small group of skilled, driven product designers creating impactful, valuable designed features that truly make a difference for salons around the world
What You'll Do
- You will work in a product engineering environment, working closely with an engineering team to ensure what was shipped is meeting our needs. You’re comfortable talking to colleagues and customers, testing prototypes, and iterating on designs until you’re confident with your solutions.
- You will bring clarity to complexity by taking complex, sometimes undocumented processes and map them out. You will design solutions for systems that are heavily interdependent from the initial discovery phase to shipping and iterating on feedback.
- You will visualise how data flows between people and systems, spotting opportunities to automate or simplify This role is as much about Information Architecture and Service Design as it is about UI.
- You will validate your ideas quickly. Whether it’s a new feature in our internal "OAK" platform or a configured workflow in Rocketlane, you will test prototypes with your internal users to ensure it solves their actual problems.
- You will work closely with the Technical Business Analyst communicating high-level user needs into actionable designs for our engineering team.
- You will manage Stakeholders helping to align varying needs from different departments (e.g., balancing a request from Sales against a requirement from Finance), using user needs and designs to facilitate consensus.
Who You Are
- You have a minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in product design (UX/UI), ideally within the B2B internal tooling space.
- You area System Thinker and aren't scared of "spaghetti" processes. You enjoy mapping out complex workflows and figuring out how different pieces of a system fit together.
- Your process is well-defined and consistently leads you to successful solutions.
- You enjoy working closely with Product Managers and Developers to get to the heart of the problems you’re trying to tackle.
- You have experience collaborating with senior leadership and key business stakeholders, with a proven ability in securing buy-in from teams across Sales, Operations, Support, and other cross-functional partners.
- You are comfortable running user interviews, workshops, and shadowing sessions. You know that the best insights come from watching people work.
- You can clearly explain the logic behind your design decisions to engineers and stakeholders. You can navigate conflicting requirements from different teams and help find a path forward.
- You thrive in environments where documentation might be missing and processes are evolving. You see this as an opportunity to create clarity rather than a blocker.
- A can-do attitude with a growth mindset and eagerness to learn.
- Fluent English is essential.
