🌍The Phorest Go Team

Clients can use the Go app on tablet as a full appointment calendar and point of sale but also on their phone to manage appointments, run reports and much more. Over the past 2 years we have transformed the application. Rebuilding the original app from the ground up in React Native, shifting its purpose from being a companion to Phorest, to an empowering tool to help our salons inspire and motivate their teams through features like staff goals, performance metrics and more. We’re proud to be the first in our industry to offer a fully integrated tipping solution, allowing staff to receive tips from the salon card terminal and manage those tips using their Phorest Go app.

Over the next few years we see Phorest Go playing a key role in helping our clients to motivate and retain great staff members and we are seeking a skilled product designer to continue the evolution of our product, bringing industry leading changes to our clients.

Each team at Phorest consists of a product designer, product manager, and engineering manager who work together to determine what "good" means for their team and product. As a designer on this team, you will have the autonomy and control to shape the product vision and make a significant impact on it. You will also be supported by the product design team, which is a small group of highly skilled and driven designers working across our suite of products. We meet daily to discuss our work, collaborate and ensure we maintain a consistent client experience across all products.

The Opportunity

• Snr. Product Designer position available on the team, responsible for building our Phorest Go mobile app.

• You will play a critical role in shaping the future of our Phorest Go app.

• You will be part of an autonomous team working alongside a product manager, engineering manager and a dedicated engineering team.

• You will partner with product managers to define and evolve product roadmaps.

• You will work closely with engineers as you build, iterate on, and ship ideas.

• Join a small group of skilled, driven product designers creating impactful, valuable designed features that truly make a difference for salons around the world.

• Help us to evolve our design systems and play a key role in driving the vision that defines our product.

What You'll Do

• You will work in a product engineering environment, working closely with an engineering team to ensure what was shipped is meeting customer needs. You’re comfortable talking to customers, testing prototypes, and iterating on designs until you’re confident customers will be happy with your solutions.

• You will be designing new features from the initial discovery phase to shipping and iterating on feedback.

• Challenge assumptions. While Phorest has a wealth of industry experience to tap into, with fresh eyes you will still want to validate ideas with our customers, many of which are right on our doorstep, or accessible through our very active community.

• In your team you will be responsible for championing design and how your ideas or solutions address the needs of our clients.

• Through prototyping and talking to clients, you will have a real impact on determining the product roadmap via testing ideas and assumptions. Meeting and talking to clients on a regular basis.

• Bonus: We’re looking for someone who knows how to design for motivation, creating experiences that inspire users to set and achieve their goals. We’ve seen Phorest Go transform the lives of staff and owners when they set goals and achieve them through our application. We want to do as much as we can to help even more salons reach their full potential.

Who You Are

• You have a minimum of 6 years of professional experience in product design (UX/UI), ideally within the B2B space.

• You can quickly develop a deep understanding of who you create products for and are comfortable influencing your team's product strategy.

• Your process is well-defined and consistently leads you to successful solutions.

• You can justify decisions and measure success with data and can clearly communicate your reasoning to large groups, influencing decision making in your team and with external stakeholders.

• A good grasp of web/mobile technologies and their abilities - you don’t need to be able to ship code but understanding how your designs are put into clients hands helps to uncover the opportunities and limitations we have.

• You enjoy working closely with Product Managers and Developers to get to the heart of the problems you’re trying to tackle.

• Run user research and discovery workshops to evaluate new ideas.

• A strong understanding of information architecture, user experience, interaction, and visual design for both web and mobile.

• A well-defined visual design taste and a strong attention to detail.

• Experience designing for multiple platforms and screen sizes, using Figma to bring your ideas to life through prototyping and storytelling.

• A can-do attitude with a growth mindset and eagerness to learn.

• The ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment with a high degree of autonomy.

• Fluent English is essential.

• Having worked in the salon industry or helped to develop software solutions in a similar environment is a plus.
