We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Consumer group. Our ongoing mission is to help our salons and spas grow their business by helping them attract their ideal clients!

Would you like to help to create the future of a product used by thousands of businesses and millions of consumers? Phorest Salon Software powers over 9,000 hair and beauty salons in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Australia, Finland, the USA and Canada and the platform processes 7 million appointments a month for hair and beauty consumers. Our next goal is to become a platform upon which other companies can build applications for premium salons.
We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our Consumer group. Our ongoing mission mission is to help our salons and spas grow their business by helping them attract their ideal clients, turning them into regular high-spending and self-servicing clients and retaining them as loyal clients.These include best in class Email & SMS editors for building successful targeted campaigns, automated consultation forms to provide a tailored experience, online booking platform and branded apps plus much, much more.
Our features have proven to have a direct impact for our clients by increasing their bookings overall.
In one quarter in 2022, Email campaigns have generated €2.3 million in revenue for our salons and SMS campaigns generating €600K respectively.
Since it’s launch 7 MILLION consultation forms have been completed out of 8 million sent in over 3,000 salons
You will be a key member of a multidisciplinary team, helping us to design and build the future of our tools providing a premium experience for our client’s clients.
Transparency is valued here in Phorest and that includes showing our Software Engineers what they will be doing and achieving in Phorest in their first 3 months.
After 30 days you will have:
Joined our fantastic team in the Consumer group and attended daily and weekly sessions discussing our product and technical direction.
Met key people from various departments to get a broad picture of everything we do here in Phorest
Spent time shadowing our support team to get to grips with our customers problems
Paired up with some of our highly skilled engineers to set up your development environment, contribute to our codebase and release new features to our clients
Starting learning about our engineering team’s ethos, best practices, guidelines and processes like TDD and CI.
After 60 days you will have:
Demonstrated your proficiency in object-oriented development and design by contributing to one or more of our Java, Kotlin and Groovy projects.
Shown us your understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable distributed system
Had conversations about design patterns to ensure the right solution is chosen
Collaborated with the team’s Product Owner and Designer to help create acceptance criteria and feedback on designs.
Completed a product cycle with the team
After 90 days you will have:
Demonstrated your proficiency with Javascript and framework experience by contributing to one of our Ember projects.
Contributed to our GraphQL layer standardizing and simplifying how we query our APIs and the responses returned.
Potentially experienced a change in requirements and handled it with ease
Told us what you think and suggested improvements to our product and/or process and showed us you are not afraid to voice your opinion or challenge the norm.
Been able to measure and see the impact the team’s contributions have had on our client’s business
Told us what more you want to learn and where you want to go, a growth mindset is a must and we want to help you to keep learning.

We have a maker track for those who want to stay close to the technical direction from Senior to Staff all the way to Principal engineer. We also have a manager track for those with a keen interest in people management, process improvement and growing our teams.
